Over the course of a 14 week term we investigated several prompts through the medium of the "artist book". The "artist book" differs from other forms of sequential storytelling in that the object itself is the work of art (as opposed to a gallery catalog or documentation of work). More than just a study of type and image, these books were an impetus for the creation of content as well as an exploration into the book as a medium.
Handbook is a collaborative book project with the artist Coral Saucedo→. In this project our intent was to celebrate the book as a form as well as a performance object. In its current state Handbook is composed of two previous books, each one carefully photographed and bound to create the next. The result is part optical illusion and part showcase of the beauty of the book.

A reinterpretation on the classic Ed Ruscha work, Every Building On The Sunset Strip. This version documents the original work through iPhone panorama photography in all of its glitchy charm.
This project was a response to a current book found in a used bookstore—in my case The Table Saw Book. Rather than create a new book, I treated my response as a performance piece and carried out the contents on the book itself. The cutting of the book was documented and then rebound as a flip book in the form of half of the original size.
